Auto Roles
Auto Roles automatically gives configured roles to new members when they join your server. You can manage the role list from Discord with slash or prefix commands.
Requirements
- You need the Manage Server permission to configure Auto Roles.
- Strom needs the Manage Roles permission.
- Strom’s highest role must be above every role it assigns.
- Managed integration roles and the
@everyonerole cannot be assigned.
If a configured role moves above Strom’s highest role, Strom cannot assign it to new members. Move Strom’s role higher or choose a lower role.
Commands
| Slash command | Prefix command | Description |
|---|---|---|
/autorole add role:@Member | !autorole add @Member | Add a role to the automatic assignment list. |
/autorole remove role:@Member | !autorole remove @Member | Remove a configured role. |
/autorole list | !autorole list | Show configured roles and recent assignment activity. |
/autorole help | !autorole help | Show command help. |
The prefix shown above is the default !. Use your server’s configured prefix if it is different.
How assignment works
- An administrator adds one or more roles with
/autorole add. - A new member joins the server.
- Strom validates each configured role and assigns every role it can manage.
- The result is recorded in the recent activity shown by
/autorole list.
Troubleshooting
::: details A member did not receive a role Confirm that the role is still listed, Strom has Manage Roles, and Strom’s highest role is above the configured role. Also check that the target role is not managed by another integration. :::
::: details I cannot use the command Auto Role configuration requires Manage Server. The command is unavailable in direct messages. :::
