Welcome
First impressions matter. The Welcome module greets every new member the moment they join and points them toward the right place to start. Post a friendly message in your welcome channel, dress it up with an embed or a custom image, hand out a starter role automatically, and — if you like — say a quiet goodbye when someone leaves.
What it can do
- Post a welcome message in the channel you pick.
- Send a leave message when a member exits.
- Style messages with plain text or embeds.
- Attach a welcome image or generated card.
- Assign an auto-role to every new member.
- Fill in member, server, and count details with variables.
Getting started
- Open the dashboard and sign in.
- Pick the server you want to set up.
- Head to Welcome.
- Choose the channel where greetings should land.
- Write your message, or design an embed.
- Add an auto-role if you want new members to get one.
- Turn the module on, then test it with a fresh join if you can.
Variables
Want your message to greet people by name or show off your member count? Drop a variable into the text and Strom fills in the rest:

Which variables work depends on the message type. The dashboard lists the supported ones right next to the editor, so you never have to guess.
Before you use auto-role
Auto-role needs a few things to work:
- Strom has the Manage Roles permission.
- Strom’s own role sits above the role it hands out.
- No channel override is blocking Strom’s messages or logs.
One caution: don’t use auto-role to grant staff powers on join — unless you’re deliberately building a locked-down onboarding flow and know exactly what you’re doing.
Tips that help
- Keep your welcome short and genuinely useful.
- Link the channels people actually need: rules, roles, support, getting started.
- Keep your welcome channel separate from your audit-log channel.
- Skip pinging staff on every join unless your server is small.
- Only switch on auto-roles once your role hierarchy is sorted.
Troubleshooting
Welcome messages aren’t sending
Make sure the module is on, a channel is selected, and Strom has View Channel, Send Messages, and Embed Links in that channel.
The auto-role isn’t being assigned
Drag the Strom Bot role above the target role, and double-check that Manage Roles is granted.
Images aren’t showing up
Confirm the image URL is public. If Strom sends a generated card, it also needs Attach Files.
